What we do impacts our world. We therefore take care to protect people and the environment. Our values of integrity, reliability, safety, teamwork, customer focus and innovation underpin everything we do. We have a set of sustainability principles as follows:
Our ambition is to increase operational efficiency and reduce our environmental footprint, both onshore and at sea.
We want to preserve natural resources, so we consider the environmental and energy implications of everything we do.
Our environmental stewardship strategy is to limit our harmful gas and water emissions, and reduce the waste generated by our activities.
Integrity and high standards of governance are embedded in our daily operations.
We are socially responsible and ethical. We promote fair dealing, anti-bribery and anti-corruption practices. We take equal opportunities, diversity and inclusion seriously.
We uphold human rights and are committed to ensuring that our activities do not directly or indirectly violate them in any country.
Safety is central to everything we do. We never compromise and have a ‘zero incidents’ target.
We provide a safe working environment and promote safe working attitudes to protect the health and safety of everyone who interacts with us.
We are fully compliant with all applicable, local and international laws and regulations.
We give back and make positive contributions to communities. Every year we make monetary donations to specific causes relevant to our core values and business.
We manage risk and opportunities by looking at their impact on sustainability. Our enterprise risk management system helps identify and manage potential enterprise risks. Political, economic, social, technological, ethical and legal considerations are included in our decision-making process.
We work with our partners to achieve our sustainability objectives. We take care to ensure all stakeholders share our values and sustainability principles.
The Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA) is a pioneering and voluntary commitment of Greek seafarers and ship owners to safeguard our seas from ship-generated pollution. Its principal aim is to promote environmental consciousness, a spirit of safety, and a high level of quality throughout shipping.
It was established in 1982 by George P Livanos, the President of the Union of Greek Shipowners and the Secretary-General of the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation. We are proud members today.
